Six females and 16 males were booked over the weekend in a sting that pursued suspects in an area of Lafayette known for prostitution, police said.

On Friday and Saturday nights, police conducted the operation in the 1400 block of Cameron Street, which also resulted in the arrest of one male for alleged possession of marijuana and another male on a count of interfering with the duties of a police officer, Cpl. Paul Mouton said in a release.

The six females were arrested Friday night, while the 16 men were booked Saturday night. All were arrested on counts of solicitation for prostitution, Mouton said.
