A Pineville woman died in a two-vehicle crash Saturday in Evangeline Parish, State Police said.

Lacey Fontenot, 28, of Pineville, died in a head-on wreck shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday on U.S. 167 north of Turkey Creek, said Trooper First Class Bryan Lee, a State Police spokesman.

Fontenot was driving northbound on U.S. 167 in a 2007 BMW 525 when she drove across the centerline into the southbound lane and crashed into a 2009 Honda CRV driven by Nickolas Fontenot, 29, of Ville Platte, Lee said.

It was unclear if the two drivers were related.

Neither driver was wearing a seat belt, Lee said.

Lacey Fontenot was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck and Nickolas Fontenot suffered serious injuries in the crash, Lee said.

State Police are investigating the crash and haven’t determined whether impairment was a factor, Lee said. A toxicology sample from both drivers will be submitted for analysis, Lee said.
