Two Scott residents accused of stealing $700 worth of items from a Goodwill drop box early Tuesday were also arrested on drug counts after police found about $1,840 worth of narcotics in their vehicle, according to a Scott Police news release.

Anthony Innis, 36, and Kelly Hayes, 40, were implicated in the theft from the Alfred Street store after a caller reported their vehicle and license-plate number to police, the news release says.

Police found in the vehicle items matching the description of those stolen from the Goodwill drop box and also found 50 Klonopin, 114 Xanax, two glass smoking pipes and five small plastic bags filled with suspected crystal methamphetamine, police said.

Innis was booked on counts of theft and possession of methamphetamine, Schedule IV narcotic and drug paraphernalia. Hayes was booked on counts of theft and possession of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, a legend drug and Schedule III narcotics, along with two counts of possessing Schedule IV narcotics.

Innis remained in the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on Tuesday afternoon in lieu of $46,500 bail. Hayes also remained in the jail in lieu of $57,500 bail.
