CROWLEY — The Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office is searching for Nathaniel Bates in the early Friday morning shooting death of a Crowley man, according to a news release.

Bates, 25, is wanted on one count of second-degree murder in the killing of Brian Keith LaFleur, 30, the release said.

The shooting occurred at 1:20 a.m. during an argument at Meadows apartment complex, the release said.

Maxine Trahan, spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Office, said the apartment complex is surrounded by the city of Crowley but is under the jurisdiction of the Sheriff’s Office.

A second person, whose identity and age were not released, suffered a nonlife threatening gunshot wound to his leg, the release said. He was treated and released from a hospital.

No other information about the shooting was released.
