RAYNE — Acadia Parish authorities early Wednesday arrested a teenage boy in a suspected home invasion. Rayne police officers captured the teen when he reportedly tried to enter another home that was not his, officials said.
Deputies were called at around 8 a.m. about a home invasion on the Interstate 10 service road near Rayne. The homeowner said the teen broke into the home then left after a brief fight, Sheriff Wayne Melancon said in a news release.
The teen, who was not identified because of his age, was later located at a home in the 9200 block of Robert’s Cove Road as he tried to get away from Rayne officers, Melancon said.
The suspect surrendered peacefully to Rayne police, who turned him over to sheriff’s officials. Charges are pending.
