A Breaux Bridge High School student arrested Wednesday is accused of using a social media app to threaten a shooting would happen on the school’s campus.

Jada Perron, 17, of Breaux Bridge, was booked on a count of terrorizing after the Snapchat message began circulating on social media the day before, according to the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Law enforcement began investigating the message around 7 p.m. Tuesday after someone reported screen shots of the message were being circulated on other social-media websites, the Sheriff’s Office said. The message stated a shooting would happen at the high school’s campus late Wednesday morning.

Perron had been released to her parents on Wednesday afternoon, according to booking records.
