A Port Allen man arrested in Lafayette on Wednesday is accused of evading sex offender registration after his 2007 conviction of indecent behavior with juveniles.

The West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office had been searching for Kenny D. Ruffin, 34, of 1064 Avenue A, when authorities tracked him down to a Lafayette home at 320 Short St., according to a news release from the state Attorney General’s Office. Ruffin was found hiding under a bed.

Ruffin remained in the Lafayette Parish jail on Wednesday afternoon without bond, according to booking records.

The Attorney General’s Fugitive Apprehensive Unit led the arrest in coordination with the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana Department of Corrections, the Lafayette Police Department and the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, the release stated.
