A Lafayette man had been driving drunk at 150 mph in a fatal crash earlier this month that killed his passenger, leading to the man’s Thursday arrest, State Police said.

Martin Nguyen, 31, is accused of vehicular homicide in the death of Hoang Nguyen, 30, of Lake Charles, according to a State Police news release. Police arrested him at a Lafayette hospital upon his release following the crash, which happened on April 18 on LA 339 near Reno Road, police said.

Martin Nguyen was also booked into the Vermilion Parish jail on counts of speeding at 150 mph in a 55 mph zone, reckless operation and improper lane usage, the release stated.

Martin Nguyen was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Corvette when he failed to negotiate a curve and drove off the right side of the roadway, police have said.
