Update: The 15th Judicial District Attorney’s office has declined to pursue charges against Jevon Figaro in this case. Prosecutors said the charges were refused due to insufficient evidence.

A Lafayette teenager is accused of shooting another teen in the leg during an after-prom party on Grossie Drive.

Jevon Figaro, 17, was booked Wednesday on a count of illegal carrying of a weapon and illegal use of a weapon, the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office announced in a news release.

The shooting happened early March 29 in the 200 block of Grossie Drive. A 17-year-old girl was shot in the leg after the shooter, identified by authorities as Figaro, fired multiple times.

The victim was treated and released at a hospital.
