LAFAYETTE — Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred early Monday morning on McKinley Street, Lafayette police said in a release.
The victim told police he was walking in the 200 block of McKinley Street when a man pulled a handgun and robbed him of his cell phone and wallet, Cpl. Paul Mouton said in a release.
“After taking the property, the suspect struck the victim twice in the head with the gun and fled the area,” Mouton said.
The robber is described as a black man in his 50s and about 6 feet tall. He was dressed in a gray hooded sweat shirt and long dark pants.
The victim was transported to a local hospital.
