Police are searching for an armed robber who on Friday morning demanded cash from a Lafayette 24-year-old before attacking him with a knife.

Police interviewed the victim at an area hospital around 8 a.m., about an hour after the attack at The Quarters apartment complex in the 500 block of Stewart Street, according to a news release from the Lafayette Police Department. The victim suffered multiple cuts to his forearms and hands.

The victim told police he walked outside to throw the trash when the knife-wielding man approached, demanded money then attacked when the victim said he had no valuables on him, the news release stated.

The suspect is described as a medium-built black man, about 6-feet-2-inches tall and about 30 years old.
