A 26-year-old Opelousas man was booked into jail this week, accused of pulling a gun and robbing a Family Dollar store on West Landry Street.

Carey Reed Jr. was booked into the St. Landry Parish jail on one count of armed robbery, which occurred around 9:55 p.m. Monday heist, Police Chief Perry Gallow said.

Detectives with the department’s Special Operations Division used video surveillance from a nearby business to identify the getaway vehicle, which they located Tuesday on Judson Walsh Drive.

Reed, the vhicle’s owner, was interviewed and booked, Gallow said in a news release. Reed was scheduled to appear before a magistrate judge Wednesday morning.
