A Tuesday morning fire at a Lafayette apartment complex was set intentionally after someone forced entry into the complex’s office building, according to the Lafayette Fire Department.
Firefighters responded around 8 a.m. to Himbola Manor Apartments at 804 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive to find a smoldering fire inside the office building, Fire Department spokesman Alton Trahan said in a news release. The building’s interior sustained heavy smoke damage and minimal heat damage after a fire was set in one of its offices, he said.
Employees reported the fire that morning after they arrived to work to find the building filled with smoke, Trahan said. The investigation is ongoing.
Anyone with information on the fire is asked to contact Lafayette Crime Stoppers at (337) 232-TIPS or the Lafayette Fire Department at (337) 291-8716.
