OPELOUSAS — St. Landry authorities Tuesday located the husband of a woman who has been missing since July, finding Arthur Tillett in Omega, Ga., where detectives have been sent to question him.
Tillett, 59, is a person of interest in the disappearance of Sandra Tillett, who is 64 and was reported missing by her out-of-state daughter, Capt. Megan Vizena said.
Sheriff Bobby Guidroz said in a release that Sandra Tillett was last seen in July at the couple’s residence at 499 Carrington Place in Opelousas.
Arthur Tillett became a person of interest to St. Landry authorities when statements he made Saturday to detectives turned out to be false. Detectives returning to question him Sunday found the residence empty and Tillett nowhere to be found, Vizena said.
Guidroz and Vizena did not state how Tillett was found in Georgia, or what led Omega police to detain him.
Anyone with information on where Sandra Tillett might be can call the St. Landry Sheriff’s Office at (337) 948-6516 or Crime Stoppers at (337) 948-TIPS.
