Three men were arrested Thursday in an armed robbery at a Lafayette shopping center, police said.

Randy Wilson, 29, of Fresno, Texas, and Dante King, 20, of Alexandria, were each arrested on a count of armed robbery after a 22-year-old man reported he was robbed in the Midtown Plaza parking lot in the 2500 block of Johnston Street, Lafayette Police spokesman Cpl. Paul Mouton said in a news release.

Tyrus Gable, 18, of Alexandria, was also booked in the case on a count of principal to armed robbery.

The victim told police he was at his vehicle when two men approached him, one of whom wielded a handgun before stealing the victim’s wallet, Mouton said. The other robber stole the victim’s phone from inside the vehicle, Mouton said, while the third man joined the two in fleeing the scene in a silver car.

Officers detained Wilson, King and Gable in a traffic stop at the corner of the Northeast Evangeline Thruway and Castille Avenue and later arrested them in the crime, Mouton said.

The investigation remains ongoing.
