Lafayette Police are searching for an armed robber who held up a city convenience store early Saturday morning.

Police responded to the armed robbery around 3:30 a.m. at the On the Run convenience store, 1339 Southeast Evangeline Thruway. The clerk told police a man entered the store armed with a handgun and demanded money, Cpl. Paul Mouton said.

The robber took an undisclosed amount of cash, and fled the store on foot toward East Pinhook Road, Mouton said in a news release. The clerk was not injured during the incident, the release says.

The robber was described as a 6 foot tall black man wearing a dirty white shirt with blue jeans.
