EUNICE — Authorities have identified the man police shot on Thursday as Bryan Britnell, 33, of Eunice, State Police Master Trooper Brooks David said Friday.

The officer-involved shooting took place around noon Thursday, and began with a domestic dispute that caused the lockdown of two schools, according to State Police.

At 12:02 p.m., Eunice officers responded to a residence near South 9th Street and West Park Avenue, David said in a news release.

Shortly after the officers arrived, they stopped a car occupied by the suspect. At some point during the traffic stop, Britnell brandished a firearm, David said. He was shot by at least one police officer and was taken to a hospital, where he is receiving treatment.
