A woman tracking her stolen iPad on Tuesday led deputies to three young men who confessed a string of vehicle burglaries in Lafayette Parish.
Arrested in the case on 12 counts of simple burglary were: Jacob Duplechin, 19, of Sunset; Brandon Magnon, 21, of Church Point; and Nathdaniel Roberts, 17, of Church Point, according to booking records.
Roberts also faces additional counts of resisting an officer and possession of stolen things after he misrepresented himself to a deputy with a stolen item in his possession, according to his arrest affidavit.
The woman tracked her iPad to a Duson home on West Congress Street, where the homeowner said Magnon, her nephew, had been in the home about 10 minutes earlier with an iPad, according to Magnon’s affidavit for arrest. Deputies soon found them in their vehicle and found the stolen device inside.
The trio confessed to stealing from or attempting to steal from cars on Ocho Rios Drive, near Scott, and Golden Grain Road, Beringer Drive, Wheatfield Drive, Ridgela Circle and Centurion Drive, all near Duson, according to their arrest affidavits. Items stolen included a gun, wallets and credit cards, cash, headphones, a backpack, an iPod and the iPad.
All three men remained in the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on Wednesday afternoon in lieu of a $120,000 bail.
