An autopsy is scheduled in Vermilion Parish for a disabled Kaplan man whose body was found Wednesday night by firefighters working to extinguish a blaze at his home.
Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the fire at 61-year-old Doyle Broussard’s wood-frame home at 9931 Huckleberry Dr., according to a news release from the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Firefighters responded to the home around 8 p.m. Wednesday and found Broussard’s body under the carport after extinguishing the fire, the release stated. The body was near a riding lawn mower the disabled man used to retrieve mail, the release stated.
Fire investigators determined the fire started in the carport but are still working to determine what sparked it.
