A 15-year-old boy was shot in the neck Saturday in Lafayette, police said.

Around 5:45 p.m., Lafayette police responded to a shooting in the 100 block of Petunia Loop, where they found the victim with a gunshot wound to the neck. He was transported to an area hospital and is in stable condition, the Lafayette Police Department said in a news release.

Officers later found the suspect, a 16-year-old boy. A disturbance had occurred between the two juveniles when the suspect shot the victim, police said.

The suspect was arrested and charged with aggravated battery by shooting.

The shooting remains under investigation.
