ST. MARTINVILLE — A St. Martinville teen was arrested Wednesday morning after a Snapchat picture circulated showing a male posing at St. Martinville Senior High School with a weapon visible in the waistband of his pants, according to the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office was alerted to the post by school system officials, sheriff’s spokesperson Major Ginny Higgins said.
Investigators determine that the person pictured, who is not a student at the school, entered the campus after school hours Tuesday without permission from school staff, snapped the picture and then posted it to social media, Higgins said.
The weapon has been identified as a black C11 BB CO2 air pistol and resembled a semi-automatic handgun, Higgins said.
Jacob Syon, 19, was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on carrying a firearm or dangerous weapon on school property, and criminal trespass.
As of Wednesday night, no bond had been set.
