Police arrested a Lafayette man early Tuesday who is accused of trying to break into an area high school’s coin-operated vending machines.

Officers who heard a loud banging noise coming from the commons area of Acadiana High School found Michael Taylor, 55, with his face covered and dressed in all black, trying to break into the machines, according to a news release from the Scott Police Department.

Taylor was booked into the Lafayette Parish jail on counts of criminal damage to coin-operated devices; simple criminal damage to property and illegal carrying of a weapon.

Police did not say on Tuesday what kind of weapon Taylor carried during the incident.
