Lafayette police probing the death of an 18-year-old pedestrian killed Friday on Interstate 10 are asking anyone with information on Grant Ingram’s activities that night to come forward.

Ingram’s body was already lying on I-10 when he was struck by a vehicle about 1:45 a.m. Friday, said Cpl. Paul Mouton, Lafayette Police spokesman.

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette student had been hit “more than once” before a woman reported striking his body in the roadway, Mouton said.

Police determined Ingram was hit while trying to cross the westbound lane of I-10 at the Ambassador Caffery Parkway exit, but the details surrounding his death end there.

“Investigators are still trying to figure out what he was doing prior to the crash,” Mouton said.

The crash site places Ingram between Cowboys Nightclub, which sits just off the westbound lane of I-10 at the Ambassador Caffery Parkway exit, and a patch of hotels and fast-food restaurants located along the interstate’s eastbound lane.

But Mouton said linking Ingram’s activities to any of those businesses is only “speculation” at this point.

Ingram, a St. Mary’s Catholic School graduate from Marthaville, was buried Sunday in Ajax. UL-Lafayette officials lowered the university flag Sunday in his memory.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Lafayette Police Department or Cpl. Jace Galland at (337) 291-7223.
