A 61-year-old woman was killed and four other people injured in an Interstate 10 collision Thursday that occurred when a westbound Buick LeSabre crossed the median and struck a Saturn Vue driven by the woman.

Pearl Tucker, of Scott, was pronounced dead at the scene in the 3:40 p.m. crash. Two passengers in Tucker’s Saturn, teenagers, suffered moderate injuries and were transported to a hospital, Scott Police Chief Chad Leger said.

The crash occurred when Dana St. Andre, 36, of Lafayette, was driving the Buick west and crossed the median into Tucker’s oncoming car. St. Andre suffered serious injuries and was brought to a hospital.

Agencies responding to the accident included the Scott Police Department, Scott Volunteer Fire Department, Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Broussard Police Department.

An investigation continues, Leger said in a news release.
