Police are working to identify a man shot and killed early Friday in Lafayette.

Officers responding around 2:15 a.m. to a fight in a parking lot at 3103 W. Pinhook Road learned that the man and a 38-year-old woman had been fighting before they both fell to the ground, at which point the woman shot the man in the chest, according to the Lafayette Police Department.

The man ran off, but officers soon found him dead on the ground in another parking lot nearby on Pinhook, police said.

Police interviewed both the woman who fired the shots and witnesses on the scene, but have made no arrests. No additional details were available in the case on Friday.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the incident or the identity of the man killed to contact that Lafayette Police Department or the anonymous Crime Stoppers tip line at (337) 232-8477.
