A Lafayette man on the run since a Thursday night fatal hit-and-right crash on Johnston Street surrendered to police Friday afternoon, authorities said.
Timothy Ray Miller, 40, is accused of hit-and-run driving and careless operation of a vehicle in the crash in the 6600 block of Johnston Street, in which 54-year-old Ingrid Reichle, of Lafayette, died, according to a news release from the Lafayette Police Department.
Police said Miller rear-ended a 2015 Toyota sedan with his 2002 Dodge truck, parked his truck in a nearby parking lot and fled the scene on foot.
Reichle, a backseat passenger in the Toyota, died on the scene, police said.
Investigators Thursday night located Miller’s passenger, whose name has not been released by police.
Miller remained in the Lafayette Parish jail Friday afternoon in lieu of a $500 bail.
The investigation remains ongoing.
