A St. Martin Parish school system educator was arrested Friday on a count of molestation of a juvenile.

Kaylyn W. Huval, 27, of Breaux Bridge, was booked on a count of molestation of a juvenile, said Maj. Ginny Higgins, Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman.

Higgins said school board officials notified authorities of the allegation in February.

The sheriff’s office did not disclose her position or any information about the victim, and school system officials were not available for comment Friday.

Huval remained in the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on Friday afternoon in lieu of a $30,000 bail.

Huval’s arrest comes a week after a St. Martin Parish school resource officer employed by the Sheriff’s Office was arrested on similar allegations.

Michael Barber, 39, of Breaux Bridge, was booked Feb. 27 on one count each of attempted production of child pornography, indecent behavior with a juvenile and malfeasance in office, Higgins said.

The two arrests are unrelated, Higgins said.
