A Welsh man arrested on Tuesday is accused of first-degree murder in the weekend shooting death at a party held following the annual Rice Festival.

Dwight Lee Breaux, 38, is accused of killing 21-year-old Kaleb Gibson near the corner of North Avenue B and West Second Street around 2 a.m. on Sunday, according to Crowley Police Chief K.P. Gibson. Another person was injured in the shooting.

Bond had not been set for Breaux, who remained in the Acadia Parish jail on Tuesday afternoon.

More details in the case have not been released, including a motive in the shooting, as the investigation remains ongoing.

Officers are still following up on leads and “other arrests are pending,” Gibson said.
