Police arrest suspects in New Iberia robbery

NEW IBERIA — The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office and Lafayette Police Department, working together, have arrested suspects in the June 22 armed robbery of a convenience store in New Iberia, according to a news release.

Shawn Francis, 23, of Carencro, and Marcus Dewayne Robertson, 23, of Lafayette, were taken into custody on armed robbery warrants, the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office said Thursday in a news release.

The robbery occurred about 4 p.m. at the Cracker Barrel on North Lewis Street, according to the release.

Sunset men arrested in Lafayette robbery

LAFAYETTE — Two Sunset men have been arrested in the June 26 armed robbery of a man in the 100 block of West Gloria Switch Road, according to a Lafayette Police Department news release.

Anthony G. Babineaux, 28, and Kelly Ray Green, 24, both were arrested Wednesday by the U.S. Marshal Service’s Violent Offender Task Force, according to the release.

The robbery occurred early June 26 in a lot at 105 W. Gloria Switch Road, police have said.
