VILLE PLATTE — A convicted child murderer booked on parole violation has been released from jail and is again living in Ville Platte, where he first moved after serving 24 years of a 50-year sentence in the 1991 killing of 11-year-old Averie Evans in Natchitoches.
The state child offender registry shows Phillip DeSelle, 65, now lives at 7262 U.S. 167 North.
DeSelle was booked on parole violation two weeks ago after he moved from Ville Platte to Alexandria without notifying the Board of Probation and Parole, according to the state Department of Corrections.
DeSelle was released on good behavior in January on a manslaughter conviction in Averie’s killing.
Although he confessed to the murder, the girl’s body was never recovered. Averie was selling candy door-to-door for a school fundraiser.
