A Lafayette man pleaded guilty in federal court to possessing a firearm reported stolen from a gun shop.

Cordera Dean Felix admitted his guilt Thursday to U.S. District Judge Richard Haik. Felix faces up to 10 years in prison, three years’ supervised release and a fine up to $250,000, U.S. Attorney Stephanie Finley said.

Felix admitted to Haik that he was approached in June 2014 by juveniles near the 900 block of East Simcoe Street in Lafayette. The juveniles showed him a bag containing eight handguns, and Felix bought one of them, a .45-caliber that had been reported stolen from Dave’s Gun Shop in Lafayette.

Haik did not set a sentencing date.
