Lafayette man sought in Tuesday shooting on Paul Breaux Avenue _lowres

Photo provided by LAFAYETTE POLICE DEPARTMENT -- Arthur Ray Gotch, 34, of Lafayette, is wanted on a count of attempted second-degree murder in a Dec. 1, 2015, shooting in the 200 block of Paul Breaux Avenue in Lafayette.

Authorities are searching for a Lafayette man accused of shooting another man in the leg on Tuesday night.

Arthur Ray Gotch, 34, is wanted for attempted second-degree murder, aggravated criminal damage to property and felon in possession of a firearm in the shooting, which happened about 8 p.m. in the 200 block of Paul Breaux Avenue, according to the Lafayette Police Department. Gotch is believed to be driving a charcoal gray 2007 Toyota Camry.

Gotch is accused of shooting and injuring a 31-year-old man, who remains in an area hospital in stable condition.

Police responding to the scene found the injured man on the ground and bleeding from his leg from an apparent gunshot wound. Witnesses told police the two men were arguing when Gotch pulled out a handgun and shot the other man before fleeing the scene.
