Rayne police on Sunday were trying to determine what led to the shooting death of a 32-year-old man Saturday night, KATC reports.

Christopher Trent, of Jennings, was found with multiple gunshot wounds just after 2 a.m. at the Frog City Travel Plaza on Polk Street, Rayne police said.

He was later pronounced dead at Our Lady of Lourdes hospital.

No one injured when car slams into utility pole

The 600 block of South Morgan Street was closed to traffic Sunday night after a car smashed into a utility pole, breaking it in half and sending falling wires to the ground, Broussard police said.

Police advised nearby drivers to stay in their cars while they worked to clear the damage, KATC TV reported.

It is not clear what caused the crash, and no serious injuries were reported. It was not known whether any power outages were reported after the wreck.
