Motorcyclist killed in Calcasieu Parish wreck
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a fatal motorcycle accident Sunday in the 1900 block of Crawford Drive in Moss Bluff, KATC-TV reported.
Deputies said 46-year-old Johnny Coe was driving a motorcycle north on Crawford Drive at about 3 a.m. when for unknown reasons he traveled off the road.
Officials say Coe was wearing a helmet but was ejected from the motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation into the cause of the accident is continuing.
Lafayette firefighters battle fire early Sunday
Lafayette firefighters responded Sunday to an early morning house fire at 124 Pembroke Lane in Lafayette.
Upon arrival at 4:30 a.m., firefighters say flames were coming from the roof of the home as well as the patio area. They worked the fire for 40 minutes before getting it under control.
Officials say the house had heavy smoke and fire damage. No one was home at the time of the fire.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
