A 29-year-old woman died in a car crash early Sunday morning on Interstate 10, according to Louisiana State Police.

Emily Tramel, 29, of Elton, Louisiana, who was not wearing a seat belt, was driving west on Interstate 10 when she hit a 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Stephany St. Cyr, 20, of Harvey, Louisiana from behind, according to the State Police Report.

Tramel ran off the right side of the road after the impact, running into trees. She was pronounced dead on the scene by the Acadia Parish Coroner’s Office, according to the report.

St. Cyr was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.

State Police do not know if impairment was a factor, but a toxicology sample was taken from Tramel and St. Cyr.
