LAFAYETTE — Two people described as “persons of interest” were taken in for questioning Wednesday night in the shooting death outside the Martin Luther King Center on Cora Street, according to the Lafayette Police Department.

A 22-year-old man was found dead from at least one gunshot wound in the parking lot at 309 Cora St. around 7 p.m., police spokesman Cpl. Paul Mouton said in a news release.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, Mouton said. Officers in the area located two male persons of interest, who were taken to the Lafayette Police Department for questioning. The motive behind the shooting remains unknown at this time.
