A 48-year-old New Iberia man died Monday morning when his motorcycle crashed into a Chrevelot Silverado on La. 83 at U.S. 90, according to Louisiana State Police.
The collision that took the life of Wade Renard happened about 6:30 a.m. when Diovigildo Salina-Salverez, 34, was driving his Silverado pickup truck northbound on La. 83, said Master Trooper Brooks David, a State Police Troop I spokesman.
Salina-Salverez began to make a left turn to enter the U.S. 90 westbound on-ramp and was struck by a 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by Renard, David said.
Renard was pronounced dead on scene by the Iberia Parish Coroner’s Office. Salina-Salverez, who had been wearing a seat belt, sustained minor injuries, David said.
Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash; however, standard toxicology tests are pending on the part of Renard at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. Salina-Salverez submitted a chemical breath test and was not impaired, David said.
Salina-Salverez, however, was cited for failure to yield, David said.
