LAFAYETTE — Police say they have identified a suspect in the Wednesday shooting of 57-year-old Jimmy Reed, who was found dead of a gunshot wound on Celeste Street.

Coderrick Fox, 25, of Lafayette, is wanted on a count of first-degree murder in Reed’s killing, Lafayette Police said Thursday in a news release.

Reed was found dead around noon Dec. 3 in a maroon Ford Taurus in the 1100 block of Celeste Street, police said.

Fox was released from a two-year prison sentence this year after he pleaded guilty in 2012 to attempted armed robbery, according to court documents.

Anyone with information on Fox’s whereabouts is asked to call Lafayette Police or the anonymous Crime Stoppers tip line at (337) 232-TIPS.

This story was changed Dec. 4, 2014, at 4:45 p.m. to reflect that Coderrick Fox served time for attempted armed robbery, not armed robbery, as was initially reported.
