An Opelousas man accused of robbing a drug store with a pellet gun Monday morning held the gun to his head during an hour-long standoff with police in a nearby wooded area, according to the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Casey Lejeune, 28, surrendered to authorities around 1 p.m., said St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s spokesman Maj. Eddie Thibodeaux.

Lejeune fled after robbing the LA 103 drug store, Thibodeaux said, and police dogs tracked Lejeune to a nearby wooded area, where he threatened to shoot himself before surrendering.

Bail has not been set.
