The man accused of kidnapping a 16-year-old girl in Florida and stabbing her and himself in Louisiana is asking for a court-appointed commission to evaluate his sanity.
Steven Myers, a 42-year-old registered sex offender in Florida, led police on a 45-minute high-speed chase in June 2014 after he was spotted in Grosse Tete with a missing girl. The chase ended in Lafayette Parish, when he allegedly stabbed himself and the girl several times. The victim was treated and returned to her family.
