An 18-year-old Breaux Bridge man has been arrested in the Oct. 11 shooting in St. Martinville that critically wounded a 19-year-old man. The victim was found suffering from a gunshot wound in his car about 3:30 p.m. in the 5000 block of Main Highway.

Hunter Chauvin is being held at the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center. He faces two counts of attempted first-degree murder.

An arrest warrant has been issued for a second suspect, 19-year-old Andrew Smith, of St. Martinville, who also faces two counts of attempted first-degree murder.

Maj. Ginny Higgins, spokeswoman for the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office, said there are two counts of attempted first-degree murder because there was a second person in the car. That person was not injured.
