LAFAYETTE — Police issued arrest warrants for 22-year-old Derrick Faulk, who is wanted on counts of attempted theft and simple criminal damage to property, according to a news release.
Faulk allegedly attempted to steal copper from several air conditioning units at businesses on the Evangeline Thruway on or before Aug. 17, the news release said.
Faulk also has sold more than 700 pounds of air conditioning coil at area scrap yards since July 1, the news release said.

Suspect identified in robbery attempt
LAFAYETTE — Police issued an arrest warrant for Leonta Clay, who is wanted in a robbery attempt on Moss Street last week, according to a news release.
Clay, 21, was identified as the suspect in the incident in the Aug. 15 incident in the 1100 block of Moss Street, the release said.

Man held on counts of rape of girl, 8
Investigators arrested a New Iberia man on allegations of sex crimes including aggravated rape, according to a Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office news release.
Christopher Moody, 43, is accused of sexually abusing an 8-year-old girl in Lafayette Parish for a period ranging from about eight years ago to as recent as a month ago, the release said.
Sheriff’s deputies were alerted to the incident after the victim recently disclosed the allegations to family members who in turn notified the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, the release said.
Investigators with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office Juvenile Section, Iberia Parish Sheriff’s deputies and members of the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force arrested Moody on Wednesday.
