A fight Monday afternoon between two men in the 100 block of Alfred Street led to a fatal shooting, authorities said.
When Lafayette police arrived at the scene around 3:20 p.m., they found Edmond Joseph Brown, 46, of Lafayette, lying in the street, dead from an apparent gunshot wound, police spokesman Cpl. Paul L. Mouton said in a news release.
Todd Hebert, 58, of Lafayette, the suspected shooter, was observed walking away from the scene after the shooting, Mouton said.
Hebert surrendered at the Lafayette Police Department around 5 p.m. Monday, was interviewed and booked on second-degree murder, Mouton said. The case remains under investigation.
