Lafayette police are investigating a police involved shooting after an officer fired at a man who allegedly tried to run him over with a car early Saturday.

Officers responded to a domestic disturbance call inn the 300 block of McDonald about 12:20 a.m., said Cpl. Paul Mouton, a Lafayette police spokesman. They told a woman to call police if her ex-boyfriend, Travis Biggs, 26, of Abbeville, showed up again, he said.

When police found Biggs back at the apartment about 40 minutes later, he ran to his car and drove at an officer, Mouton said. The officer fired two shots at the vehicle, striking the driver’s side door and front tire, police said.

No injuries were reported in the shooting and Biggs was arrested on counts of attempted first-degree murder of a police officer.
