All but one of eight Ford pickup trucks stolen over the weekend in Lafayette have been recovered as police continue investigating who’s responsible for stealing the trucks and trying to sell them on Craigslist.
Police said surveillance footage shows two men and two vehicles believed to be involved in the thefts but have not named any suspects. The vehicles caught on video are a Jeep Liberty and a Buick LeSabre.
The trucks — seven Ford F-250s and one Ford F-350 — were stolen from Saturday to Monday from commercial parking lots, apartment complexes and at least one private home, according to addresses listed in a news release from the Lafayette Police Department.
Once the trucks were posted to Craigslist, the thieves asked potential buyers to meet them at area apartment complexes, where they presented fraudulent papers to conduct the transaction, police said.
One truck remains unrecovered: a beige, 2005 Ford F-250 with Harley Davidson running boards and Louisiana license plate number 700CFG.
