Lafayette Police are investigating an armed robbery that took place early Saturday morning on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

The victim told police that a young black male had approached him with a handgun in the 900 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, stole the victim’s cell phone and fled the scene in a silver Toyota Camry, Cpl. Paul Mouton said in a news release. The victim was not injured during the robbery, which happened about 3:50 a.m., the release says.

The robber was said to be wearing a black shirt, gray pants and a blue bandana on his head, the release says.
