CROWLEY — Authorities on Wednesday named a Plaquemine man as a suspect in both an early Saturday morning shooting at a Kathy Meadows apartment and a January armed robbery at the same residence.
Gevin Louis Varise, 29, of the 57000 block of Canal Street, is believed to be one of two masked men who entered the victim’s home about 12:05 a.m. Saturday and shot a man three times as his wife and young child looked on, Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Maxine Trahan said.
The second man involved in the shooting has not been identified.
Investigators also produced enough evidence to connect Varise to a Jan. 6 armed robbery of money and a watch from the victim’s apartment, Trahan said.
Varise is wanted on counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of attempted armed robbery, attempted aggravated burglary and felon in possession of a firearm in the Saturday incident. He’s wanted on two counts of armed robbery and one count each of aggravated burglary and felon in possession of a firearm in the January incident.
