Authorities in Houston arrested a Crowley man on a second-degree murder warrant in last week’s fatal shooting of 30-year-old Brian Keith LaFleur, the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Nathaniel Bates, 25, was arrested about 1 a.m. Wednesday at his father’s home in Houston, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Investigators have said Bates shot and killed LaFleur during an argument that began at the Meadows Apartment Complex in Crowley.

Another man suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the leg, the Sheriff’s Office has said.

Additional details were expected to be released later Wednesday.
