A Vermilion Parish teacher who was handcuffed and arrested on Monday at a school board meeting where she raised questions about the superintendent's raise has returned to the classroom, according to a report.
WAFB reported that Deyshia Hargrave, a teacher at Rene Rost Middle School, was back in the classroom on Wednesday, according to the Louisiana Association of Educators.
A 12-minute video of Hargrave's arrest shot by a local reporter went viral Tuesday. National outlets picked up the story, and there was swift outrage.
An officer providing security at the board meeting confronted Hargrave while Hargrave addressed the board and school superintendent Jerome Puyau during a public comment period following the vote on the raise.
Hargrave left the meeting, but within seconds, the video showed her screaming in horror on the ground near the doorway in handcuffs. She was booked into the city jail with remaining after being forbidden and resisting an officer.
