The Lafayette Parish School Board on Wednesday changed its meeting dates to the first and second Wednesdays of the month and will consider only time-sensitive action items at its second meeting of the month.
The new 2015 meeting dates are:
July 1 and July 8
Aug. 5 and Aug. 12
Sept. 2 and Sept. 9
Oct. 7 and Oct. 14
Nov. 4 and Nov. 11
Dec. 2 and Dec. 9
Proposals are introduced to the board for consideration at one meeting and then reappear on the agenda for board action at the next meeting. In the past, there was a two-week gap between meetings, which were held on the first and third Wednesdays of the month.
During the first meeting of the month, the board will focus on those proposals that require board action, with only time-sensitive proposals introduced to the board for inclusion on the next week’s meeting agenda.
Most of the new proposals will be introduced to the board at its second meeting of the month to allow the public up to three weeks to review recommendations and contact their board members, said Superintendent Donald Aguillard.
The second meeting of the month also will be the one reserved for student and staff recognitions, informational reports from staff, financial reports and other business that doesn’t require board action.
